L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival - Part 2

Here's the exciting part of my trip to Melbourne - the Red Carpet Runway show presented by Harper's Bazaar Brides! This was such an amazing runway to watch. The designs were so beautiful and unique and the live music was amazing. It was performed by 2 very talented musicians who were playing the violin and piano (I want to hire them for my sisters wedding!).

But what really took me (and the rest of the audience) by surprise was definitely the closing of the show. It was simply breathtaking. As the last model walked slowly down the runway in a beautiful wedding gown, behind her followed a train that was the length of the entire runway, which was carried by two groomsmen. It was so romantic and a perfect ending to the show. I'm pretty sure all the women in the audience wanted to get married right away. Unfortunately I didn't take a video of it because I was simply in awe of the wedding gown - but I did take some photos!

Here are some snaps from the event and the runway. Enjoy!

L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival - Part 1

I have some super exciting news for you guys! I recently entered a competition hosted by Sydney Westfield and won an amazing trip last weekend to Melbourne for L’Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival (LMFF)!! I was so excited when I got the call telling me I had won, because although I enter competitions and giveaways all the time, I never actually win! And for my first win to be this huge was amazing. And to top it all off, I got the news on my birthday!

For those of you who are unfamiliar with LMFF, it's easily one of Australia's largest and most popular fashion events of the year. It runs for a week and has everything from runways showcasing the latest designs to workshops and seminars on beauty and fashion.

The prize included a trip for 2 to Melbourne via QANTAS airlines, a nights accommodation at Crown Promenade (such a gorgeous hotel - highly recommend it!), car transfers to and from the airport, hotel and event for both days, as well as 2 front row VIP tickets to the Red Carpet Runway show presented by Harper’s Bazaar. I took my mum with me because we always have great fun together when traveling.

All in all, the entire trip was definitely memorable and we both enjoyed every minute of it! The bridal runway show was amazing - and my sister is getting married soon so I got heaps of inspiration for her. The gift bags were awesome as well! Stay tuned for Part 2 of this post to see all the fashion from the runway.

I just want to say a HUGE, HUGE thank you to Sydney Westfield for making this trip possible, and thank you to LMFF for hosting such a wonderful event. It was such an enjoyable experience and I’m so grateful for it!

Here are some photos from day 1.

White with a pop of neon

As you can probably tell by my second last post, I'm completely obsessing over short suits these days. They look so chic and polished - perfect for taking you from your office to after work drinks (which is literally what I did when I wore this outfit!). Just throw on some cute accessories and a pair of heels and you're set.

Also, you don't have to necessarily buy a suit from the same brand, just mix and match existing pieces to create your own style. My blazer is from Dotti and my shorts are from Zara. They're made from the same fabric and are both white, so I decided to pair them together! And of course, I added a pop of neon for some colour.

Happy Birthday!

It's that time of year again for me - March 18 - my birthday! Firstly, I just want to say thank you to everyone who sent me sweet birthday messages and gifts! I'm so so so thankful to have such amazing friends and family in my life! I feel truly blessed :)

I never really do anything big for my birthday - I like to keep it low key and casual, just celebrate it with close friends and family, and that's exactly what I did today! I had uni today, which was a bummer, but I managed to finish early so I spent the rest of the day shopping and relaxing with my mum. Then at night, I went for dinner at Jamie Oliver's Italian in Sydney with the rest of the family. It was an awesome restaurant - delicious food, friendly service and a great atmosphere - a perfect end to the night!

Here's what I wore throughout the day - comfortable enough to go to uni and shop around in, but still polished enough for a birthday dinner. I bought these floral pants so long ago, but I still wear them all the time! I'm not quite over the floral trend yet ;)

Trend: short suit

My new favourite trend: the short suit. And stylish suits in general. I'm loving this trend at the moment because my personal style is quite polished. I love anything structured and tailored - blazers, pants, shorts etc., and a trendy suit worn with the right accessories always catches my eye.

But there's something so edgy about pairing a blazer with matching shorts. It's as if you're keeping the polished and chic look, but at the same time adding a modern twist on it by wearing shorts - just because you can.

Here's a few style inspiration photographs to get you excited! How would you wear this trend? Do you prefer shorts or pants? Prints or block colours?

Fashion Palette

Last week I attended the Fashion Palette runway. It was a S/S 2013/14 collection show held in Sydney, showcasing 16 Australian designers - from established brands to new and upcoming labels. Apart from opening their doors 1 hour late, I enjoyed the show. Some designs were right on trend and stood out for me much more than others did, but I guess that comes down to personal taste.

Here are some photos from the runway. Apologies in advance for the photography - some are a little blurry! I didn't really have great seats either (the seating arrangements were all over the place and most people weren't sitting where they were supposed to) but I tried to make do with what I had. Enjoy!

Trend: reflector sunnies

Reflector sunnies are definitely the new trend this season and i've been spotting them a lot lately, from the streets of New York and Paris during fashion week, to the local markets in Sydney. I have to say, I never thought i'd actually like this trend, but I do. There's something so cool and edgy about them, and when worn with simple, casual clothes, they can look really chic and add a some personality to your outfit.

I've collected a few photos here for some inspiration. What are your thoughts on these sunnies? Love them? Hate them? Not too sure whether you can pull them off?

I'm not sure whether they'll suit me either, but i'll give them a try. I have yet to find the perfect pair for myself, so if you have any suggestions on which stores have some nice designs, let me know!

Street style: Paris Fashion Week AW13

I could literally flick through street style photos all day. I get so much inspiration from these sorts or images and I love seeing whether I can spot any new trends emerging. I really admire how daring and bold some people are when it comes to fashion week. But then again, it is the one week where you can get away with wearing pretty much anything - the crazier the outfit, the more photographers you'll attract.

Now that Paris Fashion Week is drawing to a close soon, I thought I'd share with you some of my favourite street style shots. If you'd like to see more street style from New York Fashion Week, you can check out my previous posts here and here.
