DIY memo board

Hey everyone!

So today's post is going to be a little different, and I think you'll like it :) As the title suggests, it's a DIY! I finally finished this French style memo board a few weeks ago, but had been planning it for months. I saw a gorgeous memo board hanging in a shop one day, and knew I had to make one for myself. I had a huge white empty wall in my bedroom just waiting for a gorgeous piece of art to be hung. But since this wall was facing directly towards my bed, I also knew that the pictures on the board had to be motivational, inspiring, and make me excited to get out of bed every morning.

My creation ended up looking very different to the one I saw in the store, but I tailored it to suit my personality and my bedroom decor. You can easily change the size of the canvas, the colour of the ribbons and thumbtacks, the print of the fabric - pretty much any material used - to create a unique board that suits your own individual style. Pin photos of your friends, family, inspiring quotes, fashion inspiration, tickets to a memorable movie you watched or a place you've been - anything you want! And the best part is that you can always change up the photos since they're not super-glued on!

Denim and leather

I went for a little retail therapy the other day with a friend and since you need to be very comfortable on days like this, I decided to go for a casual outfit. I paired my new denim shirt with my favourite pair of leather pants. I love this outfit because not only is it practical, but it includes two trends at the moment: denim and leather. And my leopard flats added a bit of interest with the print and colour - not to mention, super comfortable!

I decided to unbutton the shirt in the morning, but as the weather grew colder, I buttoned it up. And as usual, I had to wear my favourite gold accessories!

Black and white

I've been really inspired my the monochrome trend lately and love how it's all about getting back to the basics. A simple black and white outfit doesn't have to be boring. With the right textures, fabrics, patterns and prints, you can achieve a chic and polished look. Just accessorize with the right jewellery or you can even go minimal with accessories, keep it simple and let the clothes do the talking. I believe it's all in the quality of the fabric, the detail it has and the way you style it.

These photographs I complied shows how exciting black and white can actually be, and the best part is that there's no need to spend on new pieces because i'm sure we all have plenty of black and white clothing in our wardrobes! I hope they give you some outfit inspiration!

Camouflage casual

I've been obsessing over the camouflage trend lately and just bought myself a new pair of camo jeans! I love them because they're high waisted so everything remain in-tact! lol.. I think this print is so edgy and can toughen up any outfit. I decided to pair these jeans with a simple white shirt to really let the print do all the talking. I added a burgundy belt for a little colour and finished off with my favourite gold accessories and black loafers to tie the whole look together. Now that I love these jeans so much, I might go buy a camo shirt!

Valentine's day in red

Happy Valentine's Day!
When I think of Valentine's Day, the word 'love' comes to mind - and not only the love you may share with your boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife, but it can also be love of a sister or a friend. But when I think of love, I think of red! So I thought todays post would be about all things red. Whether you're spending today with your parents, siblings, partners or just with a really good friend, I hope you have an enjoyable day and remember how grateful you are to have someone special in your life who you can trust.
Here are a few photos to give you some outfit inspiration for today!
Enjoy :)

Neutral tones

Today I wore one of my favourite blazers - I love the soft pink colour, almost like a pastel pink, and i've loved pastel colours for a while now but I do have to be careful that it doesn't look odd against my dark brunette hair. For some reason, I just think blondes can pull off a head-to-toe pastel outfit more.
Jeans, a shirt and a blazer is pretty much my go-to outfit when i'm in a rush to get ready in the morning. I just throw on that trio for a comfortable yet chic look. I might be feeling excited and throw on a pair of blue jeans and a yellow blazer, or I might want to keep it simple with soft colours like in todays outfit. No matter what, I always feel comfortable in light, neutral tones. And of course, you got to accessorize! This rose gold watch is my new favourite watch at the moment!

Chanel SS13 Haute Couture

I'm so excited about this post because not only is Chanel is my absolute favourite luxury fashion brand, but Karl Lagerfeld managed to achieve something quite special with this particular show - especially in the closing. There were gowns after gowns rolling down the runway - and all of them so unique and beautiful. It reminded me of nature a little bit with the runway set in a gorgeous pine forest underneath the Grand Palais glass dome in Paris, as well as all the floral and lace detailing and feathered headpieces the models wore.

But the amazing part for me, was definitely the closing. Lagerfeld sent two female models down the runway, both wearing gorgeous wedding gowns and both holding hands. They also walked alongside a cute 4-year-old dressed as a ring bearer. Was this his way of showing support for legalising gay marriage? There were so many questions circling the closing of the show within the media, but Lagerfeld didn't seem to understand what all the fuss was about, telling The Associated Press after the show "I don't even understand the debate. Since 1904 (in France), the church and state have been separate." I think it might be a way to show his audience, and fashion lovers around the world, that in order to continuously keep your brand relevant, you have to be willing to capture what is happening around you in your designs - no matter how controversial it may be. Either way, I loved his show and I loved his designs. Karl Lagerfeld always manages to inspire and surprise me every year - which is what I look forward to most.

Here's a few snapshots from his Spring 2013 Haute Couture runway collection. Starting off strong, and ending with a bang! Enjoy!

Work-out time!

So this is a bit of a random post, but since i'm about to go to the gym I thought i'd do an outfit of the day post and show what I usually wear when I work out. It's pretty much always a pair of tights, a comfortable t-shirt and my nike runners. I've become so dedicated to the gym these past couple of months and as part of my new years resolution, my aim is to keep exercising and eating healthy for the entire year. Let's see how I do!

All about leather

I'm obsessing over all things leather this season, and it's probably because I really want the winter season to hurry up and arrive! You might think that sounds crazy, but I can't help but love winter. Just think of all the layering, thick and luxurious fabrics, boots, scarves and endless accessories. And leather fits right into this season! It's warm and practical, yet chic and stylish. It's the statement piece or the finishing touch, and it never fails to add a bit of edge to your outfit.

But when I think of leather, I don't just think of jackets. I think of skirts, shorts, pants and simple t-shirts and dresses. I also think of leather detailing, especially for when you're not up for the super-tough look. Leather sleeved shirts or leather patches on skirts add a unique touch. I think it's a great way of toughening up summer outfits that could otherwise be really beachy and feminine - just add leather boots, a belt or even a bag. Pair a white shirt with an asymmetrical leather skirt and some gorgeous jewels to get an awesome look that's trendy and fun for the summer time, and add a pair of heels for a night out. Change it up for the colder season by wearing leather pants with a bold coloured coat or jacket. Add some texture as well - pair leather with faux fur or denim for a fresh look.

I just think leather is such a great, versatile fabric and is a must have for your wardrobe - the more styles the better! I hope these photos give you some inspiration!

Military Chic

Military fashion as a trend is nothing new; in fact, it’s been on the rise since 2008, coming back every few seasons, but this time it seems like it’s here to stay. In 2012 we are now seeing the military trend evolve from a tough edgy look to a more chic look in collections by Alexander Wang, Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria Beckham. Items like army jackets, skinny cargo pants and lace-up boots are easy ways to wear this trend and of course, the earthy palette of olive greens and neutrals along with clean cuts is a perfect compliment to every wardrobe. Therefore, this is a perfect trend to take advantage of – once you get a few staple military pieces in your wardrobe and you know how to style them to suit your personality, you’ll be set for many seasons to come! Here are a few ways to rock your military chic look.
